Confidence Part 2 - Peaches

Part of growing your confidence is realizing and accepting who you are. Not who you think you should be or who you think others want you to be. You are exactly how you are supposed to be. Right now. I promise!

Let’s take the example of a peach. Let’s say there is the most beautiful, juicy, delicious peach. The peach is just how it should be...beautiful, juicy and sweet. It brings joy to the people who get to eat it.

But what happens when someone doesn’t like peaches? Does that make the peach any less amazing? No! The peach gets to be the peachiest, yummiest peach and there are still some people who just don't like peaches. And that's okay. The amount of people that do like them is far greater!

Instead of trying to be an apple or pear, work on being the best peach. Go find people who love peaches. Those are your people!

Confidence is being who you are. Just like you are right now. Embracing all parts of you.

Confidence

What is confidence?

Confidence is knowing yourself. It is embracing ALL parts of you...even the things you don't like.

Confidence is our best fuel for producing our best work.
-          Just like a car needs good fuel to run properly, or our bodies need fuel to function, we need confidence to be able to become the best version of ourselves.

How do you get confidence?
-          Confidence comes from our thoughts. It comes from the thoughts we think about ourselves
-          Our thoughts are what create our feelings. Our feelings are what determine our actions.

          * If our thoughts about ourselves are negative, what kind of feelings or emotions is that going to create?

          * If our thoughts are more gentle and kind, what kind of feelings or emotions will that create?

We can create some positive thoughts and believable statements to help with this by knowing ourselves. By REALLY knowing ourselves. ALL the things about us, good and bad. And being okay with all of it.

-          Start to get to know yourself by becoming the watcher of yourself. Observe what you like and don't like. Observe how you act in situations. Be curious about yourself. Not judgmental or mean, just curious.

Hi There!

Hi friends! I am happy you are here with me. I wanted to introduce myself and introduce this blog and the intention I have with it. A few facts about me:

     * I am a mom of 4 (1 girl and 3 boys)
     * I have been married to my awesome husband, Dane for 21 years
     * I run a children's singing group called "Starlight Singers"
     * I love singing and teaching music
     * I have a passion for learning and talking about emotional  and mental health
     * I love talking and connecting with people, especially teens
     * I am in school studying marriage and family and am working to be a marriage and family counselor
*I grew up in Sandy, Utah and have lived in Texas, Ohio, and currently in Southern California

A few years ago I had some challenges come up in my life that caused me to have to grow. I needed to expand my way of thinking to be able to handle the situations in my family. I started studying and reading about the human brain and emotions and became obsessed. One of the most important things I learned was that my thoughts directly cause my emotions which in turn create an action and gives me the results in my life. I didn't realize that I had been feeling stuck and totally had the power to change the way I felt. I have tools and ideas that helped me and I know can help others. I have seen this in action with so many people and my intention is to get this information to as many people as possible to bring that relief and peace that we are all looking for. There are so many challenges in our world right now and being a teenager is tough! There is knowledge and help that is available to navigate this important time of life. I want to create a community, especially young people, who can learn and share and grow together.  I am looking forward to getting to know you!
