Confidence Part 2 - Peaches

Part of growing your confidence is realizing and accepting who you are. Not who you think you should be or who you think others want you to be. You are exactly how you are supposed to be. Right now. I promise!

Let’s take the example of a peach. Let’s say there is the most beautiful, juicy, delicious peach. The peach is just how it should be...beautiful, juicy and sweet. It brings joy to the people who get to eat it.

But what happens when someone doesn’t like peaches? Does that make the peach any less amazing? No! The peach gets to be the peachiest, yummiest peach and there are still some people who just don't like peaches. And that's okay. The amount of people that do like them is far greater!

Instead of trying to be an apple or pear, work on being the best peach. Go find people who love peaches. Those are your people!

Confidence is being who you are. Just like you are right now. Embracing all parts of you.

Confidence

What is confidence?

Confidence is knowing yourself. It is embracing ALL parts of you...even the things you don't like.

Confidence is our best fuel for producing our best work.
-          Just like a car needs good fuel to run properly, or our bodies need fuel to function, we need confidence to be able to become the best version of ourselves.

How do you get confidence?
-          Confidence comes from our thoughts. It comes from the thoughts we think about ourselves
-          Our thoughts are what create our feelings. Our feelings are what determine our actions.

          * If our thoughts about ourselves are negative, what kind of feelings or emotions is that going to create?

          * If our thoughts are more gentle and kind, what kind of feelings or emotions will that create?

We can create some positive thoughts and believable statements to help with this by knowing ourselves. By REALLY knowing ourselves. ALL the things about us, good and bad. And being okay with all of it.

-          Start to get to know yourself by becoming the watcher of yourself. Observe what you like and don't like. Observe how you act in situations. Be curious about yourself. Not judgmental or mean, just curious.

Hi There!

Hi friends! I am happy you are here with me. I wanted to introduce myself and introduce this blog and the intention I have with it. A few facts about me:

     * I am a mom of 4 (1 girl and 3 boys)
     * I have been married to my awesome husband, Dane for 21 years
     * I run a children's singing group called "Starlight Singers"
     * I love singing and teaching music
     * I have a passion for learning and talking about emotional  and mental health
     * I love talking and connecting with people, especially teens
     * I am in school studying marriage and family and am working to be a marriage and family counselor
*I grew up in Sandy, Utah and have lived in Texas, Ohio, and currently in Southern California

A few years ago I had some challenges come up in my life that caused me to have to grow. I needed to expand my way of thinking to be able to handle the situations in my family. I started studying and reading about the human brain and emotions and became obsessed. One of the most important things I learned was that my thoughts directly cause my emotions which in turn create an action and gives me the results in my life. I didn't realize that I had been feeling stuck and totally had the power to change the way I felt. I have tools and ideas that helped me and I know can help others. I have seen this in action with so many people and my intention is to get this information to as many people as possible to bring that relief and peace that we are all looking for. There are so many challenges in our world right now and being a teenager is tough! There is knowledge and help that is available to navigate this important time of life. I want to create a community, especially young people, who can learn and share and grow together.  I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Month of February

Our classes have continued to be jam packed with learning and fun. We introduced "Any Dream Will Do" from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" from Annie. The kids have caught on so quickly and really enjoyed the songs. We will be finishing the choreography to "Seize the Day" and solidifying our solo parts on "Anything You Can Do" in the next couple of weeks. I am so thrilled with our progress so far!

Weeks 2 and 3

Our classes have been going very well! This week we learned about pitch recognition. We learned to recognize when notes sound higher or lower. We started learning a new song where we will have solo opportunities with "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun. Everyone who would like to can have an opportunity for a small solo. We will be working on holding your own part while someone else is singing a different part. The kids really love this song. It gives them a chance to show some personality!

We have also continued to work on choreography for "Seize the Day". Students have learned how to stagger a line so they can all be seen in a performance. We have talked about full body movements opposed to small hand motions. We finished learning "Do-Re-Mi" and we are sounding great with this song!

Students should have received their practice CDs this week. The CD contains a rehearsal track with guide vocals (singers). It also contains the instrumental version or performance track. This has only the music with no singers. I would like all students to listen to and practice with their CDs at home so they can become more familiar with the songs. The best way for children to learn music is through repetition. So it may drive you crazy to hear the same songs over and over again but it is the best way for the kids to learn the music and words.

First Class

We had a very successful debut class! The kids were so cute and eager to learn! We did some exercise while learning note values and rhythm. The children should be able to recognize whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, and eighth notes. We also had fun learning words and hand actions to "Do-Re-Mi". We wrapped up the class by learning some choreography to "Seize the Day". I am so proud of all of my Starlight Singers for participating with a great attitude. I couldn't have been happier with our first class! See you next week!

Love,
Miss Natalie

Welcome To Starlight Singers

Welcome to Starlight Singers! I am so excited to be able to offer singing and performing classes in Menifee! I can't wait to see the untapped talent we have here. I believe that all children need to have something in their life that fills them with joy and gives them the confidence they need to grow up in this challenging world. Starlight Singers will provide children with the opportunity to learn music principles, a variety of songs, movement to music, and performance skills. They will get the chance to showcase all of their hard work in a performance for family and friends.

How it works:
Classes are held in 12-week sessions.
Children attend classes once a week for 45 minutes, Wednesdays at 4:00.
Classes are located at the small gym at Wheatfield Park in Menifee (30627 Menifee Rd)
At the end of the session there will be a performance for family and friends to come watch what their little stars have learned.

Cost:
There are 2 options for payment
     1) $60/month
     2) $160 for the entire 12-week session

Other Information:
Each session will have a music theme. Each session will focus on one genre of music. Our first session will contain music from Broadway shows. Some upcoming themes will include: Disney, 80s, Today's Hits, Holiday, 60s, and more.
I also offer private voice lessons
